Before we were married, I told my future-husband that I could do his taxes for him. When I was finished, he owed the State over $1000. He was in total shock - he had never owed any money before. Once I realized I had read the federal tax tables instead of the state tax tables, he swore I would never do our taxes again. I'm hoping this year goes much smoother.
I have found that I spend a lot of time each year gathering and sorting paperwork, filling out questionnaires, and talking with a professional. The professional enters the information into the computer and - voila!- it spits out my tax forms. Then I write a big check. I think I can do the manual entry and since I am already doing the rest, I'm hoping to save some money as I learn along the way.
I hope you will help me by following my progress throughout the month of February on Pathfinder Planning LLC's Facebook Page. I'll probably have questions and we can all share our frustration and hopefully laugh along the way.
