The curriculum has changed for this year and the kids love it! We have discussed city planning and how money works in a bank account. Today, we played a game where they had to track their deposits and withdrawals in a bank register. As we discussed what they learned, they touched on topics such as opportunity cost, behaviorial economics and the velocity of money. I am amazed at their critical thinking skills!
These kids have worked with their parents to write checks, practice spending and saving their money, and they will work on a simple budget. They all seem excited about their newfound skill set. These third graders "get it"! Why? Because they are able to see the results of good and bad decisions in a safe environment.
I'm pleased to continue working with JA and the kids. They continue to impress me with their thoughtful insights and take charge attitude.
